On the Difference Between American and Chinese Teachers
Education is a very important part of a country. And teacher-student relationship is a basic and vital interpersonal relationship in learn Chinese and English . To make Chinese classes more efficient, educator should research and study deeply and dealing with the relationships in classes correctly. China and America are both civilized countries, and education play a role in comprehensive national strength. And, learn Chinese should understand the difference.
Without any doubt, the teaching models have a very important influence on the teacher-student relationship. In China, the Chinese teachers are views as the incarnation of knowledge in the center of educating under the tradition. So Chinese classes are teacher oriented, that is, giving priority to teachers’ explanation. In this model, students are the receiver of knowledge, and they are very passive. In America, classes are student-oriented, indicating the spirit of democracy. In this model, teachers are assistant, and students can develop their ability of independent thing and creativity. As a result, Chinese students are good at examinations, but lacking those abilities. American classes are active and comfy, and this make the atmosphere better to develop the teacher-student relationship. Chinese classes are toneless and boring, and this keeps teachers at a distance against the development of teacher-student relationship. So the teaching models naturally have an effect on the teacher-student relationship.
In a conclusion, Chinese teachers and students relationship is a respected relationship, and American teacher-student relationship is a friendship. The autistics culture, communication habits, teaching methods, and students’ characters lead American and Chinese teacher-student relationship to the different directions. So when learning Chinese, teachers' influence is very important.
