Various Scholarship Programs Offered by the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC)

The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) was established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1958 in Beijing, and moved to Hefei, the capital city of Anhui Province in 1970. According to internationally acclaimed university rankings, e.g. THE, QS, Nature Index, etc., USTC has been always ranked one of the best universities in China. It is a member of the China 9 Research University Consortium consisting of the top 9 universities in China.


 

USTC is noted for its advanced science and strong technology programs, as well as excellent management studies and well-tailored programs in the humanities. It is the only university participating in the National Program for Knowledge Innovation.

 

It has around 1812 faculty members, 7400 undergraduates, and 8100 graduate students (2600 PhD students). At present, USTC has 20 schools and 30 departments and research institutes in Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Shenyang, Changchun and Hefei.

There’re more than 500 international students coming from 50 countries studying in USTC for degree programs, among which nearly 80% are PhD students. USTC offers various scholarship programs to support international students:

CAS-TWAS President’s Fellowship Program for PhD Candidates

 

A fellowship program sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in order to provide students/scholars worldwide with an opportunity to pursue PhD degree in China.

 

Coverage of the scholarship:

 

Waived tuition

 

Travel from home countries to China (one trip only per student/scholar)

 

Monthly stipend: RMB 7,000 Yuan or RMB 8,000Yuan (after passing the qualification test)

 

 

Time for application: 1 December 2017 to 31 March 2018 (for Sept. 2018 intake)

 

u Chinese Government Scholarship

 

A scholarship set up by the Ministry of Education of China to support students/scholars from all over the world to pursue postgraduate study in China.

 

Coverage of the scholarship:

 

Waived tuition and free accommodation

 

Monthly stipend: Master’s degree students: RMB 3,000 Yuan

 

Doctoral degree students: RMB 3,500 Yuan Comprehensive Medical Insurance

 

 

Time for application: 1 December, 2017 to 15 March, 2018 (for Sept. 2018 intake)

 

u CAS “The Belt and Road” Master Fellowship Program

A scholarship set up by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) to support students/scholars from

 

“the Belt and Road”  countries to pursue Master’s degree in China.

 

Coverage of the scholarship:

 

Waived tuition

 

Monthly stipend: RMB 4,000 Yuan

 

How to apply:

 

 

Time for application: 1 December 2017 to 31 March 2018 (for Sept. 2018 intake)

 

u USTC Scholarship

 

A scholarship set up by the University of Science and Technology of China to support degree-seeking students and exchange students to study at USTC.

 

Coverage of the scholarship (For both degree-seeking students and exchange students):

 

Waived tuition and free accommodation

Monthly stipend: Bachelor’s degree students: RMB 2,500 Yuan, 

Master’s degree students: RMB 3,000 Yuan, 

Doctoral degree students: RMB 3,500 Yuan.

For degree-seeking students: 1 December 2017 to 31 March 2018 (for Sept. 2018 intake)

For exchange students: half year before visiting USTC
