CITCM Actively Engaged in London Book Fair


Chinese Martial Arts Demonstration

London Book Fair is the most significant one in publishing circle held in spring annually in Europe, involving copyright business, printing, and publication of audio and video products, TV products, films and digital products. London Book Fair was held in Earls Court exhibition hall from April 16th, 2011 to April 18th, 2011, with 1696 companies and more than 750 stands. Hanban, Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classes across the U.K., participated in the fair. The exhibition at the 25m² stand attracted visitors to watch the show and consult about the matters concerning the books. Chinese publishing industry took the opportunity to promote Chinese culture.

In the fair, delegates from Confucius Institutes Headquarter of Hanban and local Chinese teachers across U.K. had a discussion on how to promote the localization of Chinese teaching materials.

In order to upgrade Chinese teaching materials and adapt them to the need of Chinese teaching in U.K. and other European countries, Hanban held a seminar, inviting Chinese teachers from across U.K.. Doctor Zhao Yanxia from University of Wales pointed out that British teaching approach should be integrated into the compiling of Chinese teaching materials.

Martial teachers from CITCM gave a wonderful performance, and attracted a great number of audiences. Besides, the teachers served the exhibition committedly and were highly appreciated by the Hanban officials in charge of the exhibition.

The participation in London Book Fair aims to further Sino-U.K. copyright business. Official data demonstrates that the volume of Sino-U.K. copyright trade between 2004 and 2008 was 8600. The participation will enable more English versions of Chinese books to enter global English book market.
