Cross-Straits Business Plan Contest Held at Zhejiang University 2012

On July 4th, more than a hundred students from 13 universities cross-straits gathers in Hangzhou to participate in “Future Science Park – Dandelion Cross-Straits Business Plan Contest”. The contest was jointly sponsored by Zhejiang University and Hangzhou Future Science Park Committee. In the 5-day contest, students will focus on the theme of “Creative Design” and demonstrate self-developed creative works and business plans.
Cai Qi, member of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, announced the kick-off of the contest. In his speech, Cai encouraged entrepreneurship in students by describing it as the driving force behind economic development. He also stressed that the whole society should take the responsibility to assist students in starting their business.
Secretary of Party Committee Jin Deshui expressed his expectations that with this precious opportunity students would exchange ideas, develop an international perspective, motivate entrepreneurship and cherish friendship. 
The 13 universities include Tsinghua University, Peking University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Nanjing University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Hong Kong University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Macau University, National Taiwan University, Taiwan National Cheng Kung University and Zhejiang University. Contest projects include “Chatting network based on spoken language teaching and education consultancy, Xunlei-Taobao fire rescue system, rehabilitative mechanical hand, career experience game, intelligent bus location prediction system, biodegradable diaper and so on.
During the event, the organizers will also organize activities such as summit forum on entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship salon, business visit and so on. On the forum after the opening ceremony, Tian Ning, Chairman of Panshi IT Co. Ltd., Xu Xiaozhou, Dean of School of Education, Zhejiang University, Ying Fangtian, Vice-Dean of International Design Research Institute, gave lectures on responsibilities of youth, mission and entrepreneurship, creativity, innovation and profitability.
