The media conference themed "2011 Xi'an Great Temple Fair · Xi'an City Wall Spring Lantern Festival & Chengdu International Panda Lantern Festival" was held at the Gate Tower of Xi'an South Gate & City Wall at 9:30 am on Wednesday. Yao Lijun, the Party Secretary of Xi’an City Wall Administrative Committee, attended the conference.

The "2011 Xi'an Great Temple Fair" will open from January 26 to February 27 between the road section of the Smaller South Gate and Heping Gate of the city wall. The fashionable and creative idea of the temple fair comes from the panda lanterns.

The cooperator Chengdu Cultural Tourism Group will offer the Sichuan flavored snacks like hot and sour powder at the fair. The gourmet area will be arranged outside the passageway of South Gate & City Wall.

It is reported that on the evening of January 26, the lantern-lighting ceremony will be held. All the Spring Couplets and other decorations on the city wall will be lit together with the ancient city wall compound itself.

As the temple fair is themed: 'Xi'an City Wall Spring Lantern Festival & Chengdu International Panda Lantern Festival', Yao Lijun said, "This temple fair is characterized by the cultural communication between Xi'an and Chengdu; tourists not only can enjoy the panda lantern show but many other folk performances like the Qinqiang Opera of Shaanxi and the face-changing of Sichuan Opera."
