Northwest A&F University is a national key university and directly under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of the People��s Republic of China. It is located in China��s only State Demonstration Zone of Agricultural Hi-Tech Industries, Yangling. It is 82km west to the famous ancient city of Xi��an.

As early as 4,000 years ago, Houji, the first high-ranking official in charge of agriculture in Chinese history, taught people how to grow crops here, making Yangling the birthplace of the Chinese agricultural civilization.

On April 20, 1934, the National Northwest Junior College of Agriculture and Forestry-the earliest special college for agriculture and forestry in the Northwest of China was founded here. This was the predecessor of the current Northwest A&F University.

With more than 70 years of development, the university has been the most comprehensive university with agriculture, forestry and water disciplines in China. It is one of universities that entered into Project ��211�� and Project ��985��. Northwest A&F University is also an important base for higher talent cultivation, research and scientific achievement transformation in the fields of agriculture, forestry and water resources in China.
