Preliminary examination: International applicants for master’s degrees are required to take the examinations of English and two professional courses relevant to the majors. International applicants for doctorial degrees are required to take the examinations of English and two professional courses relevant to the majors. Applicants whose native tongue or official language is English can be exempted from the English examination. Examination courses can be found in the current-year major catalogue. All the above courses are 3-hour written examinations. Time and place of preliminary examination are based on the examination notice.
Final examination: Qualified applicants in preliminary examination are required to take final examination arranged by the university. Time, place, content and style of final examination are defined by the university and will be listed in the final examination notice.
The university checks and defines the name list of qualified applicants and grant admission notice of Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology and Visa application for study in China (Jw202 form for short)
International applicants for training programs can be admitted as long as the university approve after checking.
6. Matriculation and registration

      Admitted students should take personal passport, admission notice of Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, JW202 form and physical examination record to the local China embassy to apply for visa to China (X or F visa). The students should take the above original materials to register at the university at the required time shown on the admission notice and pay tuition fee. Exception can be made to students who have informed the university of their special reasons and whose delay has been permitted.
After registration, students will be reexamined by the university. Those unqualified students in reexamination will be deprived of their admissions.
7. Study period and degree award

Master’s programs: 2 or 3 years.
Doctoral programs: 3 or 4 years.
      A degree student who has completed all courses according to schedule and the total credit hours will be awarded a diploma as well as a master’ and doctor’s degree certificate in accordance with the Academic Degree Regulations of the People’s Republic of China. One who has failed to meet the academic requirements, or has not been granted the qualification of thesis defence, or has failed in thesis defence, or has not been granted graduation certificate, will be treated as trainee or the one who discontinues his schooling.
Study period for Trainees is no more than 2 years. Trainees who have completed training programs will be awarded training graduation certificates.
8. International students should pay their own expenses including accommodation, health, insurance, board and teaching materials.
9. International students should pay the expenses of experiment, practice, major visits beyond training plans.
