II. Application Schedule Application forms are available approximately three months prior to the start of a new semester or short-term program. For continuing education classes, contact us anytime. III. Requirements 1. Short-term and continuing education language students: Applicants should be 13+ years old and in good health. 2. Regular university undergraduate students: Applicants should have at least graduated from high school, or equivalent, and be under the age of 55 years old. IV. Charge
Please Note: · All expenses should be paid in full as soon as the student enters the school. · Those who want to extend their study need to go through the process of extending their visas and should prepay US$300 tuition deposit. The balance due must be paid in full at the beginning of the new period of study. · Bedding materials are available for purchase (optional). · There are no refunds after tuition has been paid. · All expenses must be paid in US$ or Chinese RMB. V. Application Procedure Required materials: A. Completed application form (can be downloaded from SAU website): B. Physical exam record for foreigners (This must be obtained from a Chinese hospital after a physical examination.) C. Academic records/transcripts from the last school attended by the applicant D. Diploma/equivalent certificate from the school where the applicant graduated E. Six passport photos: 6 identical color passport-sized photos less than three months old, with the applicant’s full name (English and Chinese) written on the back of each one. Note: Applicants 35+ years old only need to submit items A, B, and C. VI. Registration Timetable ü Registration should take place one week prior to the beginning of classes. For specific times, please see Notification for Entering School form. ü When registering, the student should bring his/her passport, JW202** form, the Notification for Entering School** form, and payment for tuition/lodging/miscellaneous expenses (in US$ or RMB). ü Class times: Monday-Friday Periods 1 & 2: 8:20-9:50am Periods 3 & 4: 10:10-11:40am Periods 5 & 6: 1:30-3:10pm [13:30-15:10pm] Continuing Ed students usually have 20 contact hours of class per week, including breaks. Regular university class students usually have 20-28 contact hours per week, including breaks. ** Notification for Entering School and JW202 forms are provided by the school. VII. Courses Offered Elementary Chinese: Listening, Speaking Intermediate Chinese: Listening, Intermediate Reading (newspaper/magazines/etc.), Writing Advanced Chinese: Speaking, Reading (newspapers & magazines), Listening, Tai Chi (Shadow Boxing), Writing VIII. Lodging There are dormitory rooms available at the School of International Education. Students have the choice of living alone or with a roommate. ¨ Facilities inside each room: refrigerator, TV, air conditioner, telephone, wardrobe, desk, table lamp, toilet, shower, Internet connection, cable television connection ¨ Public Facilities: kitchen, washing/laundry machine, electric water-heater, shopping center, cafés & restaurants, computer room, audiovisual room, listening lab, extra-curricular activity room (includes ping-pong table) Standard Charges: Single-room: US$6-12.00/person/day Double-room (shared): US$12-20.00/persoday |
