Chinese Language Program

1. Introduction

This university, founded in 1984, is one of the first full-time established private universities since the reform and opening-up. It is run by Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and governed by Department of Education of Zhejiang Province.

The university sticks to a talent-focused strategy for underpinning the university’s development. Currently, there are 880 faculty members, among whom, there are 673 full time teachers, of whom are 125 doctorate holders, and 80.7% are MA degree holders or the above. There 84 professors, and more than 38.6% are associate professors or the above. In addition, there are 59 high-end talented people entitled National Excellent Teacher, Adultescent Disciplinary Leaders and Provincial Famous Teacher. Experts. 2. Courses

(1) Spoken Chinese

Spoken Chinese is a compulsory course for foreign students who aim at practicing their oral Chinese communication skills. The course is designed as small-sized classes with around 10-15 students, mainly taught in Chinese and English. Students will be assigned to classes according to actual situation at the commencement of a semester.

(2) Chinese Reading and Writing

Chinese Reading and Writing is a compulsory course for foreign students. Courses are set according to two levels including elementary and lower intermediate, and more levels could be provided according to students’ achievements. The course will be mainly taught in Chinese.

(3) Integrated Chinese Course

Integrated Chinese is a compulsory course for foreign students. It aims to improve students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills by integrating relevant culture background into communicative techniques. There are two levels of the course including elementary and lower intermediate.

(4) Chinese Culture Course

Mainly about Chinese Calligraphy and Painting.

3. Time of Enrollment

(1) Spring Semester: March-July

(2) Fall Semester: September-next January

5,400 RMB per semester; 10,800 RMB per academic year

(2) Accommodation

Single room: 850 RMB per month(excluding water and electricity)

Double room: 450 RMB per month(excluding water and electricity)
