1. Introduction

With remarkable expansion of the number of international students coming to the university, this university provides a wide range of Chinese language programs on various levels of learning and training on its Dongfeng Road campus, located in downtown Guangzhou. The teaching group consists of experienced and conscientious academic staffs. Students are expected to improve Chinese proficiency at the end of each program with a closer look into the tradition and custom, to communicate with native Chinese, and obtain sufficient skills and knowledge in the areas of HSK Tests. In addition, special-designed course work tailored to the needs of certain students may also be provided and arranged.The university thus, with pride and confidence, invites you to share and support its strong commitment to the dual goals of offering access to Chinese language learning and training combined with academic quality.

The Chinese programs are designed for international students who are interested in Chinese language, and aim to acquaint students with the essentials of Chinese language, including consonants, vowels, intonation, pronunciation, Chinese character writing, commonly used vocabulary and basic grammar,and to develop student's ability in Chinese listening, speaking, writing and translating, and prepare students both linguistically and culturally for daily contact with Chinese people.

2. Courses

(1) Compulsory Courses

Intensive Reading, Extensive Reading, Chinese Listening and Speaking, Character Writing, Chinese Composition, Overview of Chinese Culture, Chinese Singing etc.

(2) Optional Courses

HSK 3, HSK 4, HSK 5, Experience of Chinese Culture (Beijing Opera Masks, Chinese Painting, Paper Cuttings, Chinese Knots etc.), Business Chinese, Cantonese, Tai Ji Boxing etc.

(3) Class Time

Morning: 08:30-12:00

Afternoon: 13:30-16:30

(1) Spring Semester: March-July

(2) Fall Semester: September-next January
