Introduction:

The School of Law is one of the oldest and most distinguished law schools in China. In June 1926, the university established the Faculty of Law, under which there were three departments: Law, Politics and Economics. Having experienced several adjustments, the School of Law was re-structured in 2003 and became a single disciplinary school. Together with the university, the School of Law has upheld the motto:“Pursue Excellence, Strive for Perfection”, by maximizing its resources and creating an academic environment which allows both faculty members and students to meet their highest potential.

The School of Law prides itself in creating a nurturing and inspiring academic environment for students and professors. Thus it has become an attractive academic institute with expertise in different areas of legal research. At present, the School of Law has over 79 full-time faculty members, including 30 professors, 25 associate professors, and 24 assistant professors. Our faculty teaches and works closely with over 1507 students, including 577 undergraduate students, 834 master degree students and 96doctoral degree students. Each year, a large number of international students join the School of Law either as exchange students or formally registered students.

With the achievement of academic prosperity and cultivating the finest legal talent as its goal, the School of Law has developed a system of disciplines with their own unique traits. At present, the School of Law is qualified to confer master and doctoral (PhD) degrees in one-class level. The School also offers a postdoctoral research programme with individual and specialized focuses as well as a Juris Master (JM) programme. Among them, studies in International Law – approved as a National Key Discipline –ranks within the top three in China. Additionally, civil and commercial law, economic law, constitutional law and administrative law were approved as part of Fujian Province’s Key Disciplines.

2. Location: Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province

Introduction:

The School was ranked 1st as the main law school in the region of Zhejiang Province. To be selected as one of 58 educational bases from approximately 700 law schools nationwide. The educational base is to cultivate outstanding students’; innovative capability of applying laws to identify and resolve various complicated issues in practice. Master of Law Programs (LL.M.) and Juris Master Programs (J.M.) are offered. The School pays attention to international research and exchanges. The School has cooperated with some universities and institutions. Have joined an experiential education project called “Legal Clinic and Advocacy Education” as a partner school in China.

3.Location: Wuhan, Hubei province

Introduction:

The Law School currently has more than 2,000 master students and 1,000 undergraduates. Each year around 200 undergraduates, 500 master students and 100 PhD students are registered to study at the Law School. Newly setting up Police Officers Double Bachelor Degree, Juris Master (Law), Juris Master (Police Officers) and Master of International Law and Chinese Law to recruit students. In recent two years, the Law School has been authorized 2 national demonstration bilingual courses, professional degree education comprehensive reform pilot unit, Outside School Law Practicing and Teaching Base of the Ministry of Education, National Excellent Legal Talents Training Base, 1 national excellent video open class (the first batch). 8 papers won the Hubei Province Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award and 1 paper won the National Hundred Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Nomination Award. Annually, the Law School at least has 1-2 foreign professors teach for a long time on average, and receive nearly 40 experts and scholars from all over the world to give lectures in short time; sending more than 30 teachers to go abroad to study, give lectures, research, access or investigate. Lasting exchange and cooperation relationship have been established between the Law School and some prestigious law schools in the US, Japan, Europe, Asia, Oceania, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Most of the undergraduate students in French teaching law class and German teaching law class can study abroad, and taking in account the number of the students in other general classes that apply to go abroad, nearly 1/3 of undergraduate students will study abroad, the Law School education internationalization is very obvious.

Students are required to complete the curriculum 3 years, fulfill the designated number of credits, conduct research, complete the doctoral thesis and defend it in front of a panel of experts Successful graduates will receive a graduation certificate with the doctoral degree, according to the regulation of the Degree Committee. One who has failed to meet the academic requirements will be issued a certificate of completion of studies provided this is in conformity with the relevant regulations.

4.Location: Tianjin

The Law School has excellent environment for education and research. Several prestigious research institutes are also based in our faculty, such as Supreme Court’s judicial expertise for environmental damage, Chinese Research Institute for Green Development and other institutes supported by high-level governmental organs. We also provide secretariat service for Judicial Action Research Association of China Behavioral Law Society, and the Environmental Law Section of Tianjin Law Society. Moreover, the faculty has research centers for XI Jinping’s legal thought, criminal law, technology law, financial law, intellectual property law, foreign law and comparative law, legal aid, and the CCP regulation. The faculty has a cooperative relationship with Harvard University, Rice University, Sydney University and other famous institutes. Our moot court is very well equipped and our library has a large collection of literature in Chinese and other languages.
